Joy Gordanier, age 79, Mankato, KS resident, formerly of Formoso, KS passed away Wednesday November 26th, 2025 at the Jewell County Hospital, Mankato, KS. She was born December 24, 1944 in Springfield, Illinois to Sidney and Ida Cooley. She had three sisters, Tiny, Boots and Eva. Her family ended up moving to California. Joy graduated high school and worked as a waitress before meeting the man who would become her husband, Charles. They lived in Glendora, California until they moved to Formoso in 1978. Joy was an antique dealer and also was a waitress at the local Cafe. She also did volunteer work for the Formoso Garden Club and at the Thrift Store. Joy was a loving wife and mother of three sons, Troy, Bob and Brian. She was very caring and always willing to help those in need. She had a love for cats and was always taking in strays to be sure they were well taken care of. Her loving character came from her love for Christ. She enjoyed sharing the gospel and having discussions on the Bible. She will be missed by all who knew her. She lived out her final year at the Jewell County hospital being well taken care of by who she said were the best and nicest nurses. She greatly appreciated them. Joy was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and husband. She is survived by her three sons, four grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
